    Explanation

    之 is the classical Chinese equivalent of 的, used to indicate possession or association between two nouns. In modern Chinese, it appears in set phrases, formal writing, and literary expressions rather than everyday speech. For example, 成功之路 means "the road of success."

    Examples

    • 这是通往成功之路，需要付出很多努力。

      zhè shì tōngwǎng chénggōng zhī lù, xūyào fùchū hěnduō nǔlì.

      This is the road to success, and it requires a lot of effort.

    • 朋友之间应该坦诚相待。

      péngyǒu zhī jiān yīnggāi tǎnchéng xiāngdài.

      Friends should treat each other with honesty.

    • 这是他人生之中最难忘的一天。

      zhè shì tā rénshēng zhī zhōng zuì nánwàng de yī tiān.
