Explanation
The word 左 (zuǒ) means "left" or "left side" and is used to indicate direction or position. When paired with 右, it can also form the approximation expression 左右, meaning "approximately" or "more or less."
Examples
出了电梯往左走就是洗手间。
Chūle diàntī wǎng zuǒ zǒu jiùshì xǐshǒujiān.
After exiting the elevator, turn left and you'll find the restroom.
他左手拿着手机，右手拿着咖啡。
Tā zuǒ shǒu ná zhe shǒujī, yòu shǒu ná zhe kāfēi.
He held his phone in his left hand and coffee in his right hand.
这条路大概三公里左右。
