    HSK 4
    Condition
    Result & Consequence

    Structure

    要不是 + Condition, Subject + 就 + Result

    Explanation

要不是 (yàobùshì) means "if it were not for" or "if not because of," and is used to describe a hypothetical situation where a certain condition prevented or would have prevented a particular outcome. The first clause states the condition with 要不是, and the second clause describes what would have happened otherwise.
