Explanation
The adjective 黑 (hēi) means "black" or "dark" and is one of the most fundamental color words in Chinese. Beyond its literal meaning, it appears in many compound words such as 黑匣子 (black box), 黑夜 (dark night), and 黑客 (hacker).
