    Explanation

    有名 (yǒumíng) means "famous" or "well-known," literally "having a name." It is used to describe people, places, or things that are widely recognized, as in 很有名的食物 (a very famous food).

    Examples

    • 北京烤鸭是一道非常有名的菜。

      Běijīng kǎoyā shì yī dào fēicháng yǒumíng de cài.

      Beijing roast duck is a very famous dish.

    • 他是我们学校最有名的教授。

      tā shì wǒmen xuéxiào zuì yǒumíng de jiàoshòu.

      He is the most famous professor at our school.

    • 这条街上有一家很有名的面馆。
