Explanation
一下子 is an adverb used to describe something that happens suddenly, all at once, or in one swift motion. It emphasizes the speed or abruptness of an action or change. For example, 一下子就明白了 means "understood all at once."
Examples
灯一下子全灭了，大家都吓了一跳。
dēng yíxiàzi quán miè le, dàjiā dōu xià le yí tiào.
The lights all went out at once, and everyone got a fright.
他一下子吃了五个包子，太能吃了。
