    暂 (zàn) means "temporarily" or "for the time being" and is a shortened form of 暂时. It is commonly used in news reporting to concisely indicate that a situation is not yet confirmed or is current but expected to change.

    Examples

    • 事故原因暂不清楚，正在进一步调查中。

      shìgù yuányīn zàn bù qīngchu, zhèngzài jìnyíbù diàochá zhōng.

    • 这条路暂不开放，请绕行。
