    Expressing 'there' with 那里 (nàlǐ)

    Location & Position

    Structure

    在 + 那里 / 那里 + Verb

    Explanation

那里 (nàlǐ) means "there" and is used to refer to a place that is away from the speaker. It can serve as a subject, as in 那里很美 (It's beautiful there), or as a location with 在, as in 在那里等 (to wait there). It contrasts with 这里 (here), which refers to a place near the speaker.
