    Expressing 'no' with 不 (bù)

    Negation

    Structure

    不 + Verb / 不 + Adjective

    Explanation

不 (bù) is the most common negation word in Chinese, used to negate verbs, adjectives, and certain auxiliary words. It expresses refusal, denial, or the absence of a quality or action. When placed before a verb, it indicates that the action does not or will not occur; before an adjective, it negates that quality.
