Explanation
The conjunction 而且 (érqiě) means 'moreover,' 'furthermore,' or 'and also,' used to add additional information that reinforces or extends the previous statement. It connects two clauses where the second adds to or strengthens the first. 而且 is one of the most common conjunctions in Chinese for building on a point.
