Resultative verb compounds with subject-oriented results

    Actions & Events
    Result & Consequence

    Structure

    Subject + V1 + V2 (result applies to subject)

    Explanation

In some resultative verb compounds, the result expressed by V2 applies to the subject rather than the object. For example, in 跳起来 (to jump up), the subject is the one who ends up in the raised position. This contrasts with object-oriented resultative compounds where the result applies to the object of the action.
